How does CheckMyBox work?

CheckMyBox is online server monitoring software. A high number of remote, independent nodes must agree that a service is offline before a notification is sent. Why? This ensures that the service being monitored actually has a problem before notification rather than some local routing issues or temporary network outage.

Depending on the account preferences set, CheckMyBox can monitor your website in real time.

Already monitoring my server?

CheckMyBox is domain driven. If someone else has set up server monitoring for a particular website beforehand, subsequent monitoring requests by another user simply act as a server monitoring subscription to the existing data.

How many servers can I monitor?

You can monitor as many servers as you wish assuming you have the credit available in your account. We can monitor any privileged or unprivileged port you require as long as it responds to telnet.

Using your control panel you can select different monitoring intervals, different ports, and different escalation procedures per service via the use of groups.

CheckMyBox Server Monitoring Redundancy

The system increases the monitoring reliability of CheckMyBox. There are no single point of failures. If a node goes down, we remove it from our network. It answers the question: What happens if my monitoring server has a problem?

This additional redundancy makes CheckMyBox an excellent replacement for systems such as NAGIOS, which is used for monitoring corporate (cisco, HP) networks.
